As you might know, I finally bought a Nintendo Switch last month. I immediately purchased a stack of Mario games and Dead Cells. There are quite a few other games in Nintendo’s store that I would like to play. I already own many of these games on other platforms, so I figured I would wait until something I wanted went on sale before expanding my library with games I already own elsewhere.

I am a big fan of top-down twin-stick shooters, especially when they involve precision aiming instead of spraying and praying. I became a fan of the genre after playing Dead Nation on the PlayStation 3. Dead Nation is probably still my favorite, but 10tons makes quite a few games in the genre that are almost as good as Dead Nation!

Not only that, but several of those games are on sale right now. All the games on sale are top-down twin-stick shooters.

Many of these games reuse a lot of assets and weapons. I am fine with this.

Neon Chrome

Neon Chrome is the first 10tons game I ever played. It is the only roguelite on this list. That means that every time you play, you acquire money and equipment that you can use on your next attempt. As you get stronger, you get to progress deeper into the tower.

Once you get to the end, you start over, and everything is more difficult. Neon Chrome is fantastic if you are up for a challenge and want to be able to put a lot of hours in.

Sure, you can stop when you complete the tower the first time. You can also do it like me, and beat the game eight or nine times!

Neon Chrome is on sale for $3.74. I had to buy Neon Chrome.

JYDGE

So far, JYDGE is my favorite 10tons game. It feels just like Neon Chrome, except there are no procedurally generated levels. Every level is hand crafted, and the missions are very well thought out.

In JYDGE, you are basically Robocop.

JYDGE is on sale for $3.74, and you know I bought a copy.

Time Recoil

I’m excited, because I haven’t played Time Recoil yet. That’s a lie. I played a few levels just before writing this blog post.

Of course, it feels just like JYDGE and Neon Chrome, except this time, whenever you get a kill, time slows down. Is this going to be a cool mechanic? I don’t know yet, but I’m going to find out today!

Time Recoil is on sale for only $2.79, and you already know whether or not I bought this one.

Undead Horde

This one is different. It isn’t exactly a shooter. It is a twin-stick strategy action role-playing game (ARPG). I don’t really know what to expect here, but it does look like fun to me!

Undead Horde is on sale for $8.49. I bought this one, too. I can hardly wait to try it out.

Conclusion

I guess I bought all the 10tons games currently on sale for the Nintendo Switch.

Are you a fan of top-down twin-stick shooters? Are you also a fan of Dead Nation? Do you enjoy Neon Chrome and JYDGE as much as I do? Let me know in the comments, or stop by the Butter, What?! Discord server to chat with me about it!
